Dr. Sonia Rodriguez was born in Barcelona, Spain. She studied Chemical Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2000 under the supervision of Profs. P. de March and M. Figueredo for the synthesis of chiral cyclohexane building blocks from p-benzoquinone. From 2001 to 2003, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. P. Wipf at the University of Pittsburgh. Her postdoctoral work focused on synthetic studies toward pleurotin. Since then, she has been working in the Chemical Development Department at Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
