Local transportation options:•Taxis, limousines, shuttles, and rental car desks are all located on the baggage claim level of the Pittsburgh International Airport. • Taxi fare to the University and surrounding area is approximately $40. • Limousine service can be arranged in advance or on a walk-up basis; the fares are approximately $40. • Express Shuttle serves the University area (the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh) and several of the local hotels; the fare is $15 one-way or $25 round-trip. The Express Shuttle desk is located in the baggage claim area across from the main escalators; shuttles depart at 45 minutes past the hour.
Driving directions from Pittsburgh International Airport: From the airport, take Route 60 toward Pittsburgh (Route 60 becomes I-279 North); after 12 mi, merge onto I-376 East (Monroeville) [right exit immediately after exiting tunnel]; after 5.0 mi, take Forbes Avenue exit (exit 6A) and follow the signs to Forbes Ave.; after 1.0 mi, turn left onto Bigelow Blvd; the Chevron Science Center is 2 blocks straight ahead. Garage and metered parking nearby the Chemistry Department is highlighted on the campus map. Two convenient parking areas are Soldiers & Sailors parking garage, located on Bigelow Blvd, 1 block south of Chevron (see campus map), and the parking garage at the Holiday Inn University Center. Parking in most other areas of the campus is by permit only.
Accomodation: A block of rooms has been reserved for the dates of August 13 and 14, 2006 at the Holiday Inn Select – University Center, adjacent to the Chevron Science Center (~1 block). You are responsible for making and paying for your own hotel accommodation for the CMLD meeting. To reserve a room at the discounted rate of $105/night, please call the Holiday Inn and mention that this room is for the CMLD meeting at the University of Pittsburgh. The deadline for booking the hotel at the discount rate is Sunday, July 23rd.
